About

Welcome to my blog.  My name is Elizabeth and I live in New Brunswick, Canada.    This blog started quite a while ago, when I was completing a certificate in culinary arts at George Brown College, in Toronto.  It led me to view my time in the kitchen, cooking, and food in a different way.

These are stories about my time in the kitchen, how I feel about the food, recipes, or equipment used,

I took the culinary courses because I am on a sodium reduced dies and cook because I have to.  Since I have to cook, it want it to taste good.   I don't think the courses helped with that, but I found them to be a great adventure. and I learned some valuable skills along the way.

I am spoiled by eating unprocessed foods, making almost anything from scratch.  Home Chef it a good description of what I do.  I like to try new recipes, preserve what I make, and keep a well stocked pantry.  Emergency preparedness is important to me as I am quite rural and live alone.  Travelling to town in bad weather isn't always an option, and making sure I have prepared meal in the event of illness are things I prepare for when stocking my pantry.  Now, in New Brunswick, I am also growing some of the food I eat, a new adventure.

Most of all, I try to have fun in the kitchen

Follow me out on YouTube where I prepare the recipes, share my gardening adventure and get up to some DIY in my quest to be self-sufficient.  Hope to see you there.
